FBI ALERT: Middle-Eastern men harassing US Military families outside their homes
Updated: August 4th, 2015
Military families in several states are on edge, after being approached near their homes, by Middle-Eastern men asking suspicious and probing questions.
The latest incident reported last month, was from a Washington Air Guard Member who claims he was approached near his apartment by a Middle-Eastern male questioning him about his participation in the Air Force. That incident was detailed in the FBI Activity Alert, obtained by the veterans’ advocacy group, O.A.S.I.S.. The report went on to say that the questions posed to the Airmen were “very probing and concerning, but when they asked the male questions, he immediately tried to end the conversation.”
Another incident occurred in May, when two Middle-Eastern men approached the wife of a U.S. military member in front of her home in Colorado. According to the woman, the men were driving in a “dark-colored, four-door sedan” which she noticed in the neighborhood on previous occasions. The men told her she was the wife of a US interrogator, but she denied the claims. The men then laughed, according to the FBI document.
Similar incidents have been reported in Wyoming, where the men attempt to obtain personal information about the military member through intimidation. However, the FBI has not identified these men and it is not known if it’s the same men involved in all the cases.
Investigators have not said if the identities of the families involved in these cases are related in any way to the names that were reportedly released by the “Islamic State Hacking Division.” The self-proclaimed arm of ISIS claims it hacked military servers, databases and email accounts to obtain the information.
As reported by multiple media outlets last March, they released the names and addresses of 100 U.S. military personnel along with this chilling message: “Kill them in their own lands, behead them in their own homes, and stab them to death as they walk their streets thinking that they are safe.”
The U.S. Central Command Twitter and YouTube accounts were hacked with pro-Islamic State messages back in January of this year. As reported on Popular Military, one tweet — sent out under a CENTCOM Twitter avatar that had been replaced – read, “American Soldiers, we are coming, watch your back. ISIS.” Under that tweet was the hashtag, CyberCaliphate.
Last December, the FBI issued a stern warning that ISIS is seeking followers in the U.S. who are “willing and capable of conducting attacks against current and former US-based members of the United States military.”
