This Pregnant ‘Homeless’ Mom Begs in Shopping Centers With Her Son, Then Drives Off In…
Melissa Smith saw the pregnant woman, little boy at her side, holding a cardboard sign and asking for money every weekend for about two months at a San Diego shopping center. She felt bad for the woman, whom she assumed was down on her luck.
But that changed last weekend when she saw the pair get into their car – a new Mercedes Benz.
Smith told ABC10 San Diego she finished pumping her gas, then drove away.
“Lo and beyond they were in front of us,” she said. “Here they are counting money, laughing and their little boy is not in a car seat or seat belt. He’s all the way in the front seat with them.”
She followed the pair to another shopping center. The woman and boy started begging from this location as well, so Smith started taking pictures.
“I’m going to take these photos so I can show my friends so they don’t give them their money. They don’t need it. They are driving a Benz,” said Smith.
“Next thing I know, she picked up this big boulder,” Smith said, “I don’t know if pregnant people can do that. She puts it over her head and starts coming at me with this rock.”
(Note; SCAMMERS hate being caught at the game!)
A witness called 911, but the couple left as police were arriving.
ABC10 traced the license plate number to an apartment complex but learned that the couple had recently moved and left no forwarding address.
