Liberal Student Threatened To Rape Herself To Frame Conservative Students, Police Say
Why worry about a little thing like truth when you’re trying to make a bigger point? That’s clearly the question Meg Lanker-Simons, a well-known liberal blogger at radio host at the University of Wyoming asked herself when she went onto Facebook and, pretending to be a conservative, posted a rape threat against herself.
Initially, it looked as if a maddened conservative stalker had posted truly horrible things about Leftist activist Meg Lanker-Simons on a University of Wyoming “Crush” page. The truly vile post said
I want to hate f**k Meg Lanker Simons so hard. That chick that runs her liberal mouth all the time and doesn’t care who knows it. I think its hot and it makes me angry. One night with me and shes gonna be a good Republican bitch.
In retrospect, it was peculiar that Lanker-Simons, instead of demanding that the university remove this threat, instead used it to attack the University of Wyoming “Crush” site administrator and to show her “sympathy” to the alleged poster. Thus, she first said that the post was “disgusting, misogynistic, and apparently something the admins of this page think is a perfectly acceptable sentiment,” and then concluded by saying to the alleged poster, “Assuming you’re serious, get some help.”
Learn how American colleges demonize men using rape statistics that have long since been debunked helps explain how Lanker-Simons thought she could get away with committing this fraud:
A few days later, however, the University of Wyoming Police Department cited Lanker-Simons for “interference” based upon “false statements” she made to the police. It concluded that “Subject admitted to making a controversial post on UW Crushes webpage and then lied about not doing it.” Lanker-Simons’ fraud was caught because she’s stupid: she used her own computer to put up the post.
Rather than acknowledge that their liberal idol had sinned, her supporters fell back upon the “truthiness” response. Truthiness (or “fake but accurate”) first appeared in 2004 when conservative bloggers proved definitively that the documents purporting to show that George Bush welshed on his commitment to Air Force were fake. The anti-Bush crowd was undeterred. They accepted that the documents were frauds, but said it was irrelevant, because these forgeries still spoke to the essential “truth” about Bush.
Using that same line of thinking, Lanker-Simons’ friends created an almost illiterate Facebook page announcing “Meg Lanker-Simons is innocent we believe what she did was justified and deserves not to be held accountable for her accusations we stand behind you sister.” Those are pretty much the kind of friends you’d expect for a woman who belongs to both the University’s Gender & Women’s Studies group and The Nonviolent Communist chapter. They have no education and no ability to reason.
And just to show how debased intellectually American college campuses have become, Lanker-Simons’ friends weren’t the only ones giving her support. Rather than publicly rebuking Lanker-Simons for committing a fraud and defaming its Facebook management, the University of Wyoming also embraced atruthiness attitude and issued a grovelingly apologetic statement:
This episode has sparked an important discussion reaffirming that the UW community has no tolerance for sexual violence or violence of any type. The fact that the Facebook post apparently was a fabrication does not change the necessity for continued vigilance in reassuring that we have a campus where everyone feels safe.
It’s important that this event does not undermine the progress that has been made in this area.
Perhaps the University’s pathetic groveling in the face of a crude fraud came about because the University has had to deal with Lanker-Simons’ endless supply of Leftist venom before. Back in 2010, when the University retracted an invitation to self-confessed terrorist Bill Ayers to come speak at the campus, Lanker-Simons sued the university . . . and won.
We can already see the University of Wyoming’s upcoming advertising campaign: “Come to the University of Wyoming and enjoy everything we have to offer: Gorgeous Mountains, Rabidly Feminist Communists, Terrorist Speakers, Officially Sanctioned Fraud, and Groveling Officials. UW — we give you everything but an education.”
